VoIP on your Desktop

It is possible to make and receive calls directly from your computer/laptop, using a microphone and set of speakers or a headset using a software referred to as a Softphone. Usually FREE.

Examples of recommended Softphones include Bria, Linphone, Zoiper or MicroSIP. They have been tested on our platform and each has its own benefits and shortcomings. None of these are perfect but we tend to find the free version of Zoiper works well on both computers and mobile devices. Bria is highly recommended but it is not free and it may be a bit complex to set up.

Firstly, visit the website for each and make sure the program you select covers your needs. Download and install the VoIP program. You only need 3 settings to get your VoIP software working;

• Hostname
• Username
• Password

We will send you your hostname and username by email. As usual, we do not sent passwords along with what the password is for so we will send it to you by TXT or WhatsApp or other system, as long as it is not the same email address.

Trouble setting it up on your PC?

We can help you set up and test your Softphone using our remote desktop software. Contact Megganet from in front of your PC. If you are using a PC, make sure you have speakers and a microphone or a headset and make sure they are working correctly.

Please note – some soft phones may not work using default settings if the computer is online using a 4G service.
