Moving POP/IMAP Email to Microsoft Hosted Exchange

Our standard POP / IMAP / SMTP mail service is hosted on our IONOS mail server. This stable system quickly uploads, stores and downloads email efficiently, reliably and safely. With this service, Megganet supports up to 3 email aliases, virus protection and several levels of spam filtering built in.

Cost of Microsoft Hosted Exchange Basic

The Microsoft 365 Business Basic costs £5.17 + VAT / month per email address. This covers administration and account maintenance.

It is not possible to split email addresses across vendors so if you need to move a single address, you must move them all.

Moving procedure

Once you have received your order, we will need to arrange a switch over date and time. If we do not host your domain, we will need to contact your domain reseller to confirm the switching date and time. They will be given the MX records, SPF records and other relevant information.

We then send you instructions to access your email on the new service. This is to be used after Microsoft Hosted Exchange goes live. Once live, you can than have your applications configured to work with it.

Just before the update time, we backup the current email email data stored on the outgoing mail server. If you have email archives on your your devices, they may be re integrated into the new system later.

The person who hosts the your web then updates the appropriate records so that your incoming email is redirected to the new mail server.

We then upload the mailboxes to your new accounts.

Set up email on client computers

Microsoft Hosted Exchange email may be handled by Webmail or email application on your device. Megganet can remotely connect to your computer(s) and set up the new email accounts and upload any relevant archives for you.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to provide support by phone or email for setting up the Microsoft Hosted Exchange email service on Android or Apple devices. However, the instructions on the Microsoft website are your go to for this.

Fees

There may an initial set up fee based on the volume of email accounts needed which is based on the time needed to create your email addresses on the Microsoft system, backup all your known old email address mailboxes and recovering them to your new email system.
